Story Highlights
Spanish FinTech giant PayRetailers has set its sights on becoming the top dog for complex payments in Brazil with the acquisition of Transfeera, a Brazilian payment processing company. The deal, currently under review by regulators, strengthens its foothold in the region and aligns with its global expansion strategy.
This acquisition comes after the company secured a coveted payment institution license from the Central Bank of Brazil in April 2024. The move allows them to offer a wider range of financial products and services directly in Brazil. “We’ve been making acquisitions globally, but solidifying our leadership in Brazil as a major processor of complex payments is a key focus,” said Juan Pablo Jutgla, PayRetailers’ founder and CEO. He highlighted plans for further acquisitions on other continents, solidifying their position as a global leader in payment solutions.
Founded in 2017, Transfeera brings a wealth of experience in payment processing and bank data validation to the table. Renowned for its technological innovation and adherence to best practices, the Santa Catarina-based company boasts over 450 established clients. “This acquisition gives Transfeera access to the company’s vast expertise in developing and offering banking products,” said Fernando Nunes, Transfeera’s co-founder and CEO. Nunes will remain in his leadership role, with Transfeera integrating seamlessly into the PayRetailers group. The combined entity will focus on accelerating technological advancements to deliver innovative, secure, and efficient payment solutions to the Brazilian market.
The acquisition bolsters its Brazilian workforce to 100 employees, with a global presence exceeding 550 across ten offices. With ambitious plans to double its Brazilian workforce by 2025, PayRetailers is committed to expanding its service offerings to cater to the specific needs of Brazilian businesses. This strategic move positions the company as a major player in the ever-evolving Brazilian FinTech landscape.
